Operation Smile Ireland is a not for profit organisation providing free surgery for children born with clefts in the developing world. We are part of a global alliance of Operation Smiles working with over 5,000 medical volunteers in over 60 countries around the world.

We are seeking Job-Bridge intern for the position of Events Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate looking for a career in event management, communications, or marketing.

Job Description:

The intern will gain practical experience in event management, communications, and marketing within an NGO setting

  • Assisting in the implementation of an events calendar to include event planning and management, PR, website and social media
  • Updating and maintaining the Operation Smile database
  • The intern will receive formal/informal training in the following: Event Management; Website/Social Media; Communicating with the general public and our volunteer/supporter base; Writing, distributing and following up press releases; Liaising with the media; Organising launches and press events.
  • On completion the intern will have attained skills in PR, social media, materials development, event management, campaign management.

    Skills Requirements:

  • Preferred qualification in Event Management/Marketing/PR/Communications.
  • Self starter who can take initiative.
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent personal communications skills with an ability to build good relationships.
  • Can work well in a team.
  • Proactive with determination to complete tasks.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good organiser.
  • Adaptable. Creative. Resilient.
  • Flexible attitude to work.
  • Strong IT and database skills.
  • Good social media skills and understanding of new technologies.

Please Note

This is a Job-Bridge Internship. Candidates must be eligible for JobBridge. An allowance of €50 per week will be paid in addition to your current Social Welfare payment.

Duration: 9 Months, 35 Hours per week
